Tech Talk: HP Make Generational Updates to G9 Series

You are here

As workforce trends continue to evolve, so do the devices that support them. With their focus on innovation to support hybrid work environments, HP recently released a refreshed version of their EliteBook 800 and 600 series and Elite x360 1040 G9 devices. James Tran, Technical Pre-Sales Specialist at Area9, provides a rundown of the features to look out for and why it’s great news for your business.

Optimised Mobility

To meet the needs of hybrid workers and those on the move, the newly released G9 devices such as HP’s Elite x360 1040 G9 feature an intelligent design that is even lighter, more streamlined but keeping all important connections (Thunderbolt 4 Type-C, SuperSpeed USB and HDMI) while maximising screen real estate. A really important development is the new 14” diagonal 16:10 screen ratio, which means less screen scrolling giving the user more vertical space than previous models but without compromising mobility. The idea is to make the experience as close to desktop as possible from anywhere.

Made for Collaboration and Communication Anywhere

Featuring Wi-Fi 6E or 5G connectivity, hybrid workers and digital nomads are free to roam from the office to home, a café, or a coworking space. HP are also bringing in a 5MP camera, 940nm IR camera, and immersive audio software powered by HP Presence for better meeting experiences away from the desk.

On top of this, the HP EliteBook series features an enhanced video collaboration experience with video temporal noise reduction, as well as lowlight and backlight adjustment. Combined with HP AI Noise Reduction for unexpected noises and HP Clear Voice and Dynamic Voice Levelling, these devices automatically deliver better sound and video quality in a variety of environments without the user needing to lift a finger.

Secure by Design

With cyber threats increasing in sophistication and frequency, comprehensive endpoint security is critical now and into the future. HP G9 devices feature built-in, multi-layered security using HP DriveLock, BIOSphere, Sure Start, Sure Run, Sure Sense, Sure Click, Sure Recover and many more security features to help keep cybercriminals at bay in and outside the office. Adding this fortified first line of defense to a comprehensive cyber security strategy helps protect your users and your business from the looming threats of today.

For additional security, Presence Aware uses an advanced proximity sensor that automatically locks the PC when you move away and unlocks your PC when you come back using face recognition technology.

Sustainability

Businesses across Australia are focusing in more and more on sustainability. This can range from making a widespread plan to taking small steps in the right direction. An easy win in this area is device choice/ HP has stuck to their sustainable values with the new HP EliteBook 800 G9 and Elite x360 1040 G9 containing at least 30% post-consumer recycled plastic in the bezel and 50% in the keycaps. And in true HP style, the packaging is also 100% sustainably sourced.

These HP G9 technology advances make their new devices more versatile and collaborative while meeting the demands of modern workforces. Need to expand or refresh your device fleet? Get in touch with our team of experts to find out more about our procurement services!
